We host a diverse group with representatives across various agencies and orgs to help shape the impact the festival provides. Here’s an image cloud of some of the organizations that participate:
To get involved in the DCSW Festival, there are a few ways:
- Create sessions/programming for the week;
- Share access to venue space for events;
- Volunteer and/or promote across your networks for community awareness; and
- Donate financing where relevant.
We have an unfunded public-private partnership with the city, collaborating with various agencies like the Department of Small and Local Business Development, and welcome working with more to account for the diversity of our DC startup community.
Startup Community Maturity Model & Vector Scoring Results
DCSW is committed to help build and develop the DC ecosystem through every facet of its operations.At the 2017 Q2 stakeholder meeting, the participants helped assess the state of the DC ecosystem across five critical verticals. The 2017 Q2 vector scores average total came out to 14.82 on the Startup Community Maturity Model (SCMM) scale.
- Nascent (5-8) – just getting started
- Foundational (7-12) – the building blocks
- Accelerating (10-15) – momentum and alignment
- Established (13-18) – to be great or not to be great, that is the question
- High Functioning (16-21) – a leading global market
- Progressive (19-24) – pushing the boundaries and advancing the definition
- Aspirational (24-25) – imagine what is really possible in a truly global startup ecosystem
DCSW Meeting Feedback
We are deadly serial about collecting feedback and improving continuously. The recent meeting feedback provided was extremely useful as we engage stakeholders in the following quarters. We will tweak and adapt our delivery to ensure the focus and impact is centered around the most critical element: entrepreneurs.6. What did you most appreciate/enjoy/think was best about the workshop? Any suggestions for improvement?
Hearing to different perspectives related to needs. Also hearing about areas different groups are focused on.
Introductions. Clear goal to get DC to top tier startup community. Tailor open-ended questions.
The opportunity that everyone had to speak.
This is a good start but I would suggest doing a more focused workshop that breaks up the room into diverse groups to ideate around a focused issue you are interested on getting feedback.
There should be allotted time for smaller breakout groups mixed sectors to speak more about what they do, their initiatives, opportunities for collaboration. There should also be a listing on everyone in the room and links to their orgs.
I’m looking forward to the notes/ecosystem mapping after. Time and time again we hear about the need for a cultural resource (we have this for DC gov but not for non-local DC government).
Discussing and hearing from others.
Length can only scratch surface of discussing needs of DC startup ecosystem.
I enjoyed the format and the great group of attendees.
Context. More preparatory asks prior to meeting.
Stayed on schedule and gathered input from everybody.
